I am a big fan of systems that help to democratize programming. This article has a really neat discussion of how CLIs and GUIs caused a split between programmers and users in how they interface with the computer. It then takes a look at various programs that provide a mechanism for users to extend the program through the use of editable metadata and simple scripts.
